NetHope Academy Internship Program HaitiClass Picture 2011

The NetHope Academy Haiti – a six-month program that provides Haitian computer science students with both classroom and on-the-job IT skills training – is the first known program of its kind in the Haitian capital city.  In 2010 NetHope Academy successfully launched its intern program in Haiti -six months after the devastating earthquake decimated most of the island’s infrastructure. March 2011 NetHope held a graduation ceremony in Port-au-Prince for 39 Haitian IT students graduating from its inaugural NetHope Academy class. PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – (March 26, 2012) As the 29 members of the NetHope Academy 2012 Haiti graduating class convened in the Hotel Kinam lobby on Friday afternoon they shared smiles, laughter and camaraderie and I felt a huge sense of pride.  On this day, these individuals were to be celebrated for a job well done, and I had the honor of having been with them from the start.

NetHope Academy connects young Haitian computer science graduates with opportunities to gain work experience as interns at local corporations and NGOs such as Voila and World Vision. Read more…


NetHope Academy Haiti Trip Report

Intern Class Haiti 2011 PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – (February 23, 2012) Last month I traveled to Haiti to conduct a field assessment of our latest class of NetHope Academy interns halfway through their internships. As part of our standard evaluation process, we routinely survey the interns and their IT mentors using an online survey tool. The survey results allow us to gauge the progress of the interns in a very cost effective way but we often find that “deeper dives” through one on one interviews gives us an even better understanding of how everything is going. Read more…


NetHope Academy Graduates Share How Their Lives Changed

(January 2012) – Yoldy Jacques Simon and Jude Antenor graduated from the NetHope Academy internship Program in Haiti in 2011. Both are now working for Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) in Haiti. CHF is helping remove debris and rebuild the country. Yoldy and Jude are supporting more than 60 users across multiple departments and offices, troubleshooting computers and network and implementing new technologies so that CHF workers can do their jobs. Fonkoze Welcomes NetHope Academy Interns

Fonkoze Interns (October 2011) – In a prestigious program to help promising young information technology professionals advance their careers, Fonkoze has welcomed two interns on its IT staff. Sherley Altidor and Jean Jackson Platel are both passionate about information technology. Jean has loved learning about computers since he first started using his cousin’s as a boy. Sherley thinks IT can help improve Haiti’s public sector by making information more accessible in the provinces. Read more…


Meet NetHope Academy Haiti Interns

NetHope launched its first academy in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake that devastated the country.  Since this time, NetHope Academy has remained present and committed in Haiti, training interns and graduating IT professionals.
