Certification Overview

NetHope Academy offers training that can help ICT Professionals acquire the skills to achieve a variety of certifications. These certifications are industry recognized standards for validating expertise in a particular discipline, and help demonstrate specific skills to colleagues, employers, and yourself.

Get started on your certification path today:

  • Choose a certification. Review the certification overviews below to identify which certification is right for you.
  • Prepare for your exam.  Use a variety of preparation materials such as hands-on experience, courses, practice tests, and other resources that help you gain experience using the tools and technologies in your discipline. Use the links for each certification to view the skills required for the certification.
  • Take an e-learning course. Review the course list to see the courses available to help you gain the needed knowledge.
  • Take a skills assessments and/or practice test. Use the form on the skills assessment page to request assessment access.
  • Register for the exam. You must register for an exam from each certification vendor. Locate testing centers near you to take a certification exam.

 


 

Certifications by Job Role

Desktop Support Technicians

Microsoft Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) 

This certification demonstrates your ability to successfully troubleshoot desktop environments that run on the Windows operating system. It also shows you have the necessary soft skills to educate users and help them solve hardware and software operation and application problems on Windows. E-learning course and voucher available to NetHope members.

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) 

These certifications are designed to validate your skills on the features and functionality of key technologies. A MCTS certification validates a technology specialist is capable of implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging a particular Microsoft technology.

MCTS Windows 7 Configuration: ICT professionals with one or more years of experience using Windows 7. E-learning course and voucher available to NetHope members.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) 

This certification is for ICT professionals with two-plus years of experience. An MCITP certification validates skills in deploying, designing, and maintaining Microsoft technology.

MCITP Enterprise Desktop Support Technician: This certification is designed for desktop support technicians in large organizations who support end users with Microsoft Windows 7. They should have a working knowledge of operating in an Active Directory domain environment.

MCITP Enterprise Desktop Administrator: This certification is designed for ICT professionals with a minimum of three years experience installing, configuring, and administering clients in a Windows networked environment in medium and large organizations.

Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) CompTIA A+ 

CompTIA A+ was developed for entry-level IT technicians learning preventative maintenance, basic networking, installation, troubleshooting, communication, and professionalism.

 


 

Network Administrator

Microsoft Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) 

This certification is for ICT professionals with two-plus years of experience. An MCITP certification validates skills in deploying, designing, and maintaining Microsoft technology.

MCITP Server Administrator: Candidates validate their abilities to handle day-to-day management of the server operating system. They demonstrate they can manage software distribution and updates, build and configure servers, implement auditing policy, and monitor logs for firewalls and intrusion-detection systems.

MCITP Enterprise Desktop Administrator: This certification is designed for ICT professionals with a minimum of three years experience installing, configuring, and administering clients in a Windows networked environment in medium and large organizations.

Cisco Cisco Networking Certifications 

Cisco offers five levels of certification (Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert, and Architect) across eight paths, including network security and storage networking. Cisco provides preparation materials in the Cisco Learning Network. Access requires registration for a free Cisco account. Examples of certification provided by Cisco:

Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT): This entry-level certification shows someone has the skill to manage a small, enterprise branch network.

Cisco Certified Network Associate – Routing and Switching (CCNA): The CCNA certification is a stamp of approval for associate-level professionals interested in networking.

Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) CompTIA Network+ 

For networking professionals with at least nine months of experience, the CompTIA Network+ exam covers managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, operating and configuring basic network infrastructure.

 


 

IT Manager

Project Management for Development Organizations PM4DEV Mastering Project Management Certificate of  Completion
This certification is specifically designed for project managers in development organizations.
Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP)
PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential is the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP® demonstrates that you have the experience, education and competency to successfully lead and direct projects.Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
This entry-level certification is designed for those with less project experience. It demonstrates your understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and processes of effective project management.

 


 

Telecommunications Specialist

Global VSAT Forum (GVT) GVF Advanced VSAT Installer Certification 

This certification is designed for installers of bi-directional satellite earth stations. The certification exam is usually taken following the GVF VSAT Installation & Maintenance Training Course which was created to serve as the global industry standard for installers of bi-directional satellite earth stations.
