Step 2: Assess Your Skills

NetHope Academy provides a set of FREE skills assessments to help you identify your training needs. Assessments are great for newcomers, but also for experienced Network Administrators who need to prepare for a Windows 7 migration, deploy new technology, or just assess their on-the-job skills. Assessments typically take less than 90 minutes to complete.

Once you’ve identified the Assessment that’s right for you, select it in the Request form, then complete and submit the form.

  • Networking Essentials new
    This assessment measures your knowledge on fundamentals in local area network topology, network and transport layers, modems and routers etc.
  • Network Administrator Job Role
    This assessment measures your knowledge in tasks and topics relevant for network administrators.
  • Upgrading from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 (70-648) new
    This assessment evaluates your network infrastructure and active directory technology skills for Windows Server 2008.
  • Windows Server Administration Fundamentals new
    This assessment helps IT staff in entry-level positions to evaluate their knowledge in Windows Server administration and assess their readiness for the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification.
  • Open Source/Linux Administration Fundamentals new
    This practice test helps junior Linux administrators assess skills and their readiness for the CompTIA Linux+ certification. Questions cover easy maintenance tasks including assisting users, adding users to a larger system, executing backup & restore, installing and configuring a workstation and connecting it to a LAN or via modem to the Internet.

Cisco Skills Assessments

Learning@Cisco assessments are open to everybody. The only requirement is to register for a free Cisco account. Once registered for a Cisco account, you can access Cisco self assessments, study guides and other resources in the Cisco Learning Center. Cisco offers the following entry-level self-assessments:

  • CISCO Routing and Switching (Level 1)
  • CISCO Security (Level 1) Install, troubleshoot and monitor Cisco security network devices
  • CISCO Voice Networking (Level 1)
  • CISCO Wireless Networking (Level 1)
