Microsoft 20 years| 20 ways - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which exams can I take with the donated voucher?
A. If you qualify, you can take a Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) exam with the voucher Microsoft provides. The MTA certification is an entry-level certification designed to help individuals take the first step toward a career as an IT professional or developer. Learn more about the Microsoft Technology Associate certification.  Review the terms and conditions for specifics on who qualifies.

Q. How can I get one of the donated MTA exam vouchers?

A. NetHope will distribute up to 1,000 exam vouchers through our network of member organizations and NetHope Academies around the world. If you are a staff member of NetHope or a NetHope member organization, or a prospective, current, or past student of a NetHope Academy, you may be eligible to apply. Review the terms and conditions to see if you are eligible to apply for a donated exam voucher.  If so, you can start the application here.

Q. I am an aspiring IT professional in need of help, but I need a different exam than the MTA. Can I swap it for another one?

A. Sorry, that’s not possible this time around. But check out the 20 Years | 20 Ways Facebook page or the Microsoft Learning LinkedIn group for information and tips from experienced IT professionals. And keep your eyes open for the 20|20 Forum, which will launch later this year. It could be a great resource for you!

Q. I want to take more than one MTA exam.  Can I request and receive more than one donated voucher?

A. Due to limited supply of donated MTA exam vouchers, they are limited to one voucher per qualified applicant.

Q. I have a brother/sister/cousin/friend who is an aspiring IT professional and could use some help. How can they apply for one of the donated MTA certification exams?

A. At this time, Microsoft is partnering with NetHope to deliver the donated MTA Certification exam vouchers to their network of aspiring IT professionals around the world. Check the terms and conditions to see if your friend is eligible.  If so, he or she can start the application process.

Q. Besides the cost of the exam voucher (which Microsoft is donating), are there other costs for me to take the exam?

A. Microsoft is donating the exam voucher, but some of the testing centers may charge a proctor fee to sit for the exam.  We recommend you check with the test center before you schedule your exam.  Any taxes or additional fees charged are the responsibility of the voucher recipient.
